Session Tips/Information

I know there are a lot of common questions that I am getting, so here's a few tips to help answer any questions. :)

Before your session:
 - When you call/email me to set up a session, I will ask you to give me 3 available dates that work for you, and I will get back to you on what I have open. Please understand that I have a small child and a husband that works weird days/hours. I have a few babysitters lined up, but I need to talk to them before I can commit to a time.

 - We will then talk about a location. I am a natural light photographer. I do newborns, toddlers, and smaller children inside if necessary, but most shoots are done out doors. The options I will give you are this: Modern, or more "park-ish". If you choose modern, we will meet downtown. If you prefer trees, grass, and a park, then we will talk about where.

 - Time: I will not shoot midday. The light is too harsh and your photos will not turn out. No one likes shadows or direct sunlight on their faces. We can shoot early in the morning, or late afternoon/evening. Young children (most of them) do better in the mornings. Some do better in the evening. Let me know what works best for your family and we'll figure it out.

 - A $50 deposit is due the week before your session. It can be mailed or we can meet to get it. I am in the process of getting a PayPal account, so you will soon be able to pay through there. The rest of the fee is due at the time of the session.

During your session:
 - On the day of your session, be relaxed! :) Photos turn out 100000 times better when you are relaxed and happy. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know!

 - The session will last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. It depends on cooperation, weather, and how many shots I get. If everything goes smoothly, then we can get some fantastic photos in 45 min.

After your session:
 - You will get to see your photos within 2 weeks of your session.
 - If you order the disk, it will be delivered or mailed.
 - If you choose prints, then we will get together within 2 weeks to discuss ordering options. I will show you the photos on my laptop and you can place your order then. All prints must be paid for at the time of order.

Some tips:

Newborn
 - Nekkid babies are best. :)  In all seriousness, most newborn photos turn out so much better with no clothes. Tutus, bows, hats, and other props are all very cute, and please feel free to bring what you have.

- Warm the house up. By the time we're done, I'll be sweating, you'll be sweating, but the baby will be warm and cozy. They sleep better when they are warm and full, so be prepared to feed them a few times while I'm there.

 - No worries if they pee/poo on my stuff. It's washable. :)

Maternity
 - Don't wear pants that are too tight. The full panel pants leave lines. :(  Simple tops usually look best.

 - Feel free to bring baby props. Shoes, socks, sonogram pics, etc.  Maternity Photos are best done between 33 and 38 weeks, but please schedule as soon as possible.

Families
 - Be you! Be the fun, exciting, nerdy, silly family that you are. :)

 - Try to think of every family member when scheduling your session.

Seniors
Bring as many props/clothing changes as you want. Be YOU. Be unique. Bring things that represent who you are and what you do.

That's all I can think of now. Kind of long, but hopefully helpful. As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. :)
